Simple tricks to remove all kinds of stains

cleaning with Nelumo gloves

Stains are the nightmares of many - one spilled glass of wine and you’re scrubbing away for hours, hoping for the best. Thankfully, there is something that you can do to remove any kind of stain. The best part is that you can often do so by simply using things that you already have at home.

The secret is to act as soon as possible to stop the stain from leaving a stubborn mark. Here are some tips on how to remove different kinds of stains:

The most stubborn food stains you might be dealing with are grease, tomato sauce, and chocolate. Here’s how you can remove these from your carpets and clothes:

Removing Grease Stains - If you have cornstarch, you can apply it over the area of the carpet covered in grease and, once absorbed, vacuum it off. Alternatively, mix dish soap with white vinegar and warm water to create an effective mixture and apply it over the stain, making sure to blot after every application until it’s gone. A trick you can try with clothes is applying white chalk on them to absorb the grease before putting them through the washing machine.

Removing Tomato Sauce Stains - More stubborn tomato sauce stains can be removed by either applying a mixture of dish soap with cool water or by mixing ammonia with cool water. If they're fresh stains, you might be able to remove them with just water!

Removing Chocolate Stains - Start removing any excess chocolate from the carpet by carefully scraping it off with utensils and then vacuuming what comes off. Alternatively, mix dish soap with warm water and gently dab it over the stain. Finally, soak up the liquid and repeat the process until the chocolate stain is gone. On clothes, cover the stain with a stain remover like the one we just mentioned or whichever stain remover you have, and then soak in cold water for half an hour before placing the clothes in the washing machine.

One of the scariest sights is a glass of wine falling on a carpet. Despite how much of a mess it appears to be, you can fix it with just club soda. Make sure you first blot the stain as much as possible with a dry cloth, then apply the club soda. Blot again, and then repeat the application of club soda as needed until the stain goes away. You can do this to also remove wine stains from clothes, simply apply some club soda and blot it out before washing your stained clothes as normal.

Another enemy of carpets, clothes and any other surfaces that can’t easily be wiped is coffee. If you have stained your carpet, blot out the coffee and then apply a mixture of dish soap, white vinegar, and warm water with a sponge. Keep alternating between blotting and applying the mixture until the stain goes away. If instead, it’s on your clothes, it would be better to pre-wash it with a stain remover (the right one will vary based on your clothing’s fabric).

How to remove mud stains

This guide wouldn’t be complete without mentioning how to remove mud stains from carpets and clothes. Mud is something that many parents and pet owners have to deal with so learning how to best tackle this type of stain can be hugely beneficial.

Removing mud from carpets - First of all, make sure that the mud is dry. Then, vacuum the area that has been stained before creating a mixture of dishwashing detergent and warm water. Then apply it over the carpet and blot any of the liquid. Repeat this until the stain is gone.

Removing mud from clothes - Similarly to how you would treat mud stains on carpets, make sure that the mud is dry before doing anything. Then, apply some liquid detergent to it and let it soak for about 15 mins (or alternatively use any fabric stain remover you have). Once that is over, wash the clothes as normal, and don’t let them dry until you have successfully removed the mud stain.

Ļoti praktiski!

Man patīk cik viegli ir to saru birsti izmazgāt. Cimdi vienmēr paliek tīri un ir patīkamāk strādāt. Šajā ziņa tiešām daudz labāki par švammēm.

Man patīk. Skaista krāsa un mīksts materiāls. Var traukus droši mazgāt karstākā ūdenī kā parasti, tas liels pluss.
